THREE WINS for MCG Events at the MEA Awards

MCG Events were recognised for ‘Innovation’ at the Victorian Meeting and Events Australia (MEA) Awards, a further testament to the ongoing commitment to growing Business Events at Australia’s greatest sporting stadium.

The MEA award for Innovation is designed to celebrate innovative approaches to any aspect of the events industry that improves or enhances the delivery of events.

Since Delaware North were appointed Hospitality Partner by the Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC), commencing on 1st February 2022, the focus for the Non Match Day activity has been to grow Business Events, with a large focus on International Incentive, the Corporate Traveler and National Association events that utilise the sports and entertainment precinct to ‘Meet, Celebrate and Stay’.

The innovative approach was to re-vitalise, re-energise, and re-introduce the MCG to the events market. To tell the untold story. The story of its’ cultural significance. The story of its’ heritage and the roll it has played in Melbourne’s history. The story of the wider precinct, and its ability to rival any business event precinct across the globe. Where thoughts stretch beyond the stadium, complimented by extraordinary service and experiences at the forefront. A place where events are curated.  

The Innovation award also recognised the significant re-brand and creation of new marketing platforms, including an immersive website that enhanced the customer journey and visually displayed how the stadium is elevating the event experience. The digital platforms also feature a full virtual walk through of the stadium using CITE 360 technology.

MCG Events was awarded Best Business Events Venue at Victorian Tourism Awards held last December.  

MCG Events were also awarded for

  • Event Venue – Capacity less than 1,000
  • Sales, Marketing and Business Development Person of the Year
MCG Events have celebrated the diversity of Melbourne’s unique flavour.

MCG Events will now represent Victoria in all three categories at the National MEA Awards to be held on the Gold Coast in June, and in the Platinum Award Categories of Company of the Year and Event Person of the Year.
