AliFarms
We have some of the world’s best producers right here in Victoria, just a stone’s throw from the MCG.
Located in Caldermeade, just 90km from the MCG is the family owned and operated market garden farm, AliFarms. Driven to produce only the highest quality vegetables, owners Malok and Lorretta balance the challenges of a busy farming lifestyle with raising a young family, but they wouldn’t have it any other way.
World Class Producers
Maloks father migrated to Australia in 1991. The family’s European background has always been agricultural. When he arrived in Australia, his first job was working for a market gardener, before venturing out on his own with his two brothers in the early 2000’s.
Ali farms has since come a long way from its humble beginnings with 20 acres in Devon Meadows, to now over 600 acres of market garden farmland. Now, still a family run business, Malok and his wife Loretta juggle a young family, and the commitments of operating a market vegetable farm producing world class produce.
World Class Partners
There is no shortage of challenges within the farming lifestyle, Countless nights are spent by Loretta and Malok watching the radar, hoping that it will rain at the right time, that too much rain won’t wash away the topsoil and damage the produce, or that the hail won’t hit and decimate the crops.
There is also the challenge of seconds and defective stock, being rejected by many of the major retailers. Rejection is often due to size or cosmetic damage, factors that have little to no impact on the quality of the produce. Working closely with AliFarms and Tasty One, the MCG have now developed a pathway to utilise this perfectly nourishing stock.
TastyOne
From humble beginnings over 40 years ago as Tasty Chips, to providing a complete, fresh cut vegetable solution. TastyOne are a proud family business that facilitate putting Victoria’s Best produce onto the plate at the MCG.
Sustainability is a big part of the Tasty One business, and this has evolved over the last 5-10 years. Ideally, they want to work with partners to take the entire crop and move this through to food service limiting the contribution to the major issue of food wastage.
