Tony Cimmino – Chef de Cuisine,
Committee Room by Grossi
My first tour of the MCG kitchen started in 2005 when I joined as Head Chef of Culinary Development.
The second came, a decade later in 2015 when I returned to oversee the Committee Room, commencing in February 2022.
I have been able to bring my unique style of food to the match day and non-match day offering. When the Committee Room rebranded as the Committee Room by Grossi earlier this year – it provided me with the opportunity to revisit my roots, where I began my career in a busy family-owned Italian Restaurant on Chapel Street and reflect on my heritage.
The Committee Room by Grossi brings an iconic and quintessential Melbourne restaurant experience into the MCG. Contemporary Italian food featuring the finest local Victorian and Australian produce.
‘I love that there are elements of theatre – such as the tiramisu served at the table – it’s both decadent and theatrical and of course delicious!’
In an exciting and new change, the Committee Room by Grossi is now open as a restaurant to the public where it was previously members only, for lunch service from Tuesday to Friday weekly.
The service style is more formal than before, and it is unapologetically Italian. The food is simple, elegant and has broad appeal.
