MCG Events Named Best Business Events Venue at the Victorian Tourism Awards.
Last night, MCG Events was honoured to be announced as the best business events venue at the Victorian Tourism Awards.
The announcement celebrates the first year of partnership between the Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC), manager of the MCG, and its catering partner Delaware North.
Since being appointed as the new hospitality partner for the MCG in February 2022, Delaware North has elevated the hospitality experience at the iconic venue.
For the first time in the stadium’s history, a key sub-brand – MCG Events – has been created, with its own dedicated channels to drive greater awareness and use of the stadium’s dining and function potential.
As the world has begun to reopen, along with the resumption of business travel, Melbourne is once again a destination of choice, seeing an influx of incentive-based travel.
To maximise this market, MCG Events has created experiences drawing on the stadium’s highlights including the iconic MCG Tour and the Australian Sports Museum, curated menus of traditional cuisine, and featured meet-and-greets with cricketing legends.
“This year was an opportunity to be at the forefront of the returning international business event market, and we wanted to ensure that what we were developing was aligned to that tourism,” said Troy Stasinowsky, Director of Sales & Marketing for MCG Events.
Beyond the boundary, the MCG is a stadium rich in heritage, culture and art, located in one of the world’s best business events precincts. A partnership has been established across Melbourne’s sporting precinct with the Pullman Melbourne on the Park Hotel and Melbourne & Olympic Park’s venues to create a destination of choice for the business events market.
“Melbourne’s sporting precinct is unrivalled and presents options for clients to stay, meet and celebrate in while knowing there is a unified approach to delivering exceptional events,” Mr Stasinowsky added.
Stuart Fox, CEO of the Melbourne Cricket Club (which manages the MCG), explained the significance of the venue to all Victorians, Australians and visitors.
“For time immemorial, the land where the MCG is situated was used by the Traditional Owners – the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people – for sport, ceremony and business. In contemporary times, nothing has changed and the MCG remains the beating heart of Melbourne where we enjoy welcoming visitors from all walks of life to create their own unique experiences and memories,” Mr Fox said.
